Tips for Buying Beatles Autographs

Who hasn't heard of the Beatles? This legendary rock band originally from Liverpool, England is one of the most famous musical groups in the world and has been since the 1960's. They even inspired the word Beatlemania -- used to describe the frenzy surrounding the band. Popular Beatles albums included Please Please Me, Help!, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the White Album, and Abbey Road, to name a few. Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, George Harrison and John Lennon made up this innovative group, and each of them also went on to do solo work outside the band. The world mourned when member John Lennon was murdered on December 8, 1980 by a man named Mark David Chapman. This day forever lives in infamy. As you may already know, Beatles autographs are extremely valuable.

The first thing you'll need to do when you begin your autograph search is learn as much as you can about spotting fakes. The first way to spot a fake is to look at the price. No original Beatles autograph is going to go for less than thousands of dollars. There are lots of counterfeit items floating around out there. Some sellers will even try and trick you with a fake certificate of authenticity. Because you're not always going to be able to tell a real from a fake, you will need the services of an experienced authentication service skilled in the identification of Beatles memorabilia.

If you come across a piece of signed Beatles memorabilia that you are considering, you should definitely have the item and your money placed in escrow while it is being authenticated. That way, if the item is deemed fake, your money will be returned to you. If you don't do this, you could spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on fake autographs. And because the number one goal of a con artist is to take your money, don't expect a refund when you discover your newly purchased item is a fake.

Purchasing authentic Beatles autographs these days can be done with a research and a lot of money. Some autographs for sale are going to cost well over $10,000 or even more. How much you can expect to pay for group or individual members autographs will depend on the rarity of the item and the time period of the item. The most frequent signings were done in the early 1960s and dwindled in number from there.
